Red cherry. Bold. Needs some time after opening. The first and the second glass are quite different!

Great way to end the weekend of trouble. Great value from Portugal. Blend of cabernet and two grapes I can't pronounce. A bit fruity, medium body, tighter tannins in the back end

Brilliant wine from Portugal. Quite a big boy, needs a bit of time to open up. My mouth is watering right now thinking of having this with some roasted Portuguese lamb!

Last Thursday night we took a whirl wind tour around the world starting in the Marlborough region of New Zealand where, in my likings they make the best Sauvignon blanc, and ended in Idaho at a place they have a knock your socks of Cab. But, we stopped briefly in Portugal with this wonderful robust, earthy, tanniny Alicante Bouschet/Cab blend that was 10 years old. Very smooth, well balanced and complex.

Full bodied, dense wine from Portugal, Alentejo Region. Notes of fresh dark fruit, rhubarb, hints of fennel and spice. Upfront and deep down your throat but oddly enough not in back of mouth....

A well-made wine, but "international" in style and practically identical to any number of jammy, tannic, new world Cabs or Syrahs, etc that I could find for around 30% cheaper (if I was looking for that), but not very Alentejo.

Scrumptious, but as my uncle used to say, "it should be, it cost enough." $30+, so for special occasions. Everything that other Portuguese wines hint.
