The other Pinot for Hedy’s Turkey. Brought it for those that like a firmer structure, dark spice and cinnamon stick in their Pinot Noir’s. This was also selected to go with the Turkey and take us into dessert as the pumpkin pie I made has clove in it. If you haven’t had pumpkin pie with clove, you should try it. Much more interesting because of the character it brings. Deeper flavors without taking away from the sweet in pumpkin pie.

On of the best stops on the way to the coast of Mendocino is a visit to Goldeneye for a tasting. I think they still pour three wines with small bites. As enjoyable as that is in itself is, you also get to sit in those chairs and enjoy that spectacular view.

On the nose, dark cherries, strawberries, hints of ripe rhubarb, floral cranberries, blue fruits, black raspberries cola, vanilla, salted caramel, touch of fresh herbs, cinnamon stick, dark rich soil, limestone minerals, crush dry rock powder and fragrant, perfumes red & blue flowers with violets.

The body is medium ripe, lush & sexy. Dark cherries, strawberries, hints of ripe rhubarb, floral cranberries, blue fruits, black raspberries cola, vanilla, salted caramel, malt in malt balls, touch of fresh herbs, cinnamon stick, dark rich soil, limestone minerals, crush dry rock powder and fragrant, perfumes red & blue flowers with violets.

Photos of; the backend of Goldeneye and their amazing view, the entrance to their tasting room, tasting lounge and the winery. 13 a solid vintage fit them.

Still 2-3 years early on their 13 but, I have three more bottles. So, a good check-in.

Grabbed another bottle and paired it with Swordfish with a warm corn and tomato sauté relish. Yum! Ruby with aromas of sweet ripe red fruits with an array of herb scents. Grapes blended from four vineyards and aged in French oak (50% new) for 16 months, the palate had flavors of cranbery & wild cherry fruit, with plums and savory currants. The wine had layers of flavors, leather, cacao and earthy tones, nice mouthfeel that lingered to a long finish. Complex, consistent. Very Nice! Perfect now!
