Amazing. 17 years doesn't seem like much to this wine. The tannin profile has softened significantly but this could go longer without problem. Caught it at a point where things are starting to get interesting. More organic earth, leather, licorice, and spices coming forward, that delicate violet aromas is coming around. Really pretty sense of fruit that has a lot of purity still.

Tá no ponto, sem alcatrão, fruta viva, taninos presentes mas sem atrapalhar. Podia ter menos álcool

Seemed advanced. Shedding a lot of tannin right out of the bottle.
This is the 1999 cascina Francia - serralunga d’alba

In a sweet spot right now! Tannins have softened framing red fruits. Great with end of season truffles.

Tight, not quite showing full potential, but it's there. Opened up just a bit, with the aged Nebbiolo sweetness coming through much more. A little bit of watercolours (?) on the nose, good acidity - cool vintage? Love the minerality.
