This is delicious. Take the full symphony of a good Vajra Nebbiolo, add a bunch more violins, winds and crash cymbals; get rid of all but a few cellos and basses. High toned and super enjoyable showing all the fruit and floral notes you expect (sweet almost medicinal cherry and roses) dialed up to 10 with ringing juicy acid and enough tannin to keep it from feeling shrill. Fruit-driven finish almost feels a touch off-dry. Juicy and fun but with enough structure to cut through some fat, I’ll come back to this for another weeknight pasta or grilled chicken and veggies.

I rather like the retro writing on the label of this new wine from Vajra. It reminds me of the special anniversary 2011 from Scavino. Apparently Nebbiolo used to be made like this quite often. It's light bodied, with candied fruit and an attractive rose note. Decent alternative to a rosé in the summer.

Intensely aromatic reminiscent of roses and violets in the wild, mixed with thyme and clove. Tart red cherries. Zero oak influence. Tight elevated tannins, moderate plus acid and deceivingly full bodied at 14.5% abv yet you hardly notice. Fun embodiment of the name itself ;-)

25% whole cluster, lightly extracted, pouring a cool translucent ruby color, yet an exuberant expression of nebbiolo with lifted alpine aromatics and a slight spritz; an homage to Jefferson’s Nebbiolo tasting notes on his 1787 visit to Piemonte; “dry as claret, sweet and lingering as Madeira, brisk as Champagne.”

You should want to try this. You may have never had anything like this. First, great bottle and label, do not chill too much. I enjoyed this at 64-65 degrees. Fizzy, but less after as it opened. Juicy fruit, raspberry, stone fruit, plum and cherries , strawberries, but distinct tannin when chilled. Tannin disappears as it warms. You’ll be disappointed when the bottle is empty. G. D. Vajra makes lovely wines.

Amazing value. Very balanced. Great food wine. Light-medium body with good tart fruit notes and good acidity. Not a lot of depth but amazing balance. Drink soon.
