We love traversing this beautiful planet through the senses, tasting wine and conjuring images of the land and vine from which it came.

Here we’re taking a trip to Greece 🇬🇷 through our experience of this Gaia Estate Neméa Agiorgitiko 14.5% ABV (2019).

This wine is made from Agiorgitiko (ah-your-yeek-tee-ko), a rare grape variety native to Greece. It hails from Nemea, an appellation in the northeast corner of the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece.

Just imagine sun-soaked vineyards surrounded by steep slopes and deep valleys, graced with cooling influences from the elevation and altitude of this region.  It has a medium ruby hue and aromatically intense notes of cherry, plum sauce, red apple skin, violet, rose water, anise, mint, sawdust, clove, nutmeg, and vanilla.

On the palate, this wine is dry with medium+ acidity, a medium+ body, high alcohol, medium+ fine-grained tannins, and medium+ intensity in flavors consistent with the nose. This wine has a medium+ finish that lingers.

It is wonderfully balanced between acidity and ripe fruit characteristics and offers strong complexity and a solid structure across acid, tannin, alcohol and fruit concentration.
