Popped and poured. 100% Teraldego from a 5 acre parcel and aged in amphora. At this stage the 2014 “Sgarzon” pours a nearly opaque, garnet color. Let’s be clear, there’s definitely some VA, but there is some absolutely gorgeous pomegranates, tart dark brambles, earth, and stewed plums too. A very pretty wine that reminds me why I am so smitten by Elizabetta‘s wines. For my palate, this is showing better than it did back in 2017. Very Italian…but with some Burgundian sensibilities. But even that isn’t fair. These wines are singular.

Vibrant tart dark berries. A touch of brett gives some charm. Loads of structure. A wonderful compliment to the meal. I see a lot of upside.

Lots of cherry, maraschino cherry, some anise/herbal characters, bright acid on palate...still a baby but delicious

Popped and poured. This was my first experience with Teroldego and I was immediately smitten. The wine was deep garnet in the glass with a striking transparency (the core was not quite opaque). Aromas of dark fruits, wet stone and a hint of smoked game that I really, quite liked. On the palate it was fresh, snappy dark fruit and minerals. Tannin and acid were in perfect balance. Pleasantly long finish with wonderful texture. An awesome wine...need to get more. Since I don't have much experience with this varietal I don't want to make any bold statements on age-ability but I can say that it's drinking great right now and would imagine, due to structure, that this would cellar nicely for at least 5 years and perhaps much longer. This is a great wine to accompany a meal and a really nice alternative to Burgundy.

Medium bodied. Nose is Maraschino liqueur and ocean breeze. Palette presents some red fruits and tar. Medium weight, medium+ tannin, and strong acidity. Suckling gave 97 pts. I’ve followed it a few years now and still can’t give more than low 90s.

Robe noire
Nez rustique et noire l air (24h) lui apporte du fruit et des arômes d olive noire et de fruit noir
Bouche avec l air gagné en rondeur mais reste encore rustique au niveau tannique

My note from a year ago hold strong; repeated belowThis hasn’t changed much.

This has a lovely freshness and texture throughout. Blue fruits, spices, vegetal notes. Tannins are elegant. Like others I picked up a whiff of Brett / funk.

My first Teroldego and I’ll be back (also happy to have 5 more bottles!). This has a lovely freshness and texture throughout. Blue fruits, spices, vegetal notes. Tannins are elegant. Like others I picked up a whiff of Brett. Service: 45m decant.
