WOTN
2 years older than the Dr. Loosen in our line-up, yet it seems quite advanced in comparison - perhaps it's barrel vs ss ferment or the different sugar levels? Nevertheless, it was outstanding. Rich, layered, and balanced.
Honey, petrol, candied ginger, chamomile, quince, dried apricots, and cooked apples on the nose. The palate feels fresher, with waves of tropical fruits and a distinct minerality. There's a subtle greeness to it too. Lots going on, basically. Touch of VA. Crazy long finish.
It does remind me of a Sauternes, but at the same time nothing like it. Again, rich but so effortlessly light. First Egon Muller, and it definitely will not be my last - though that hefty price tag sure makes it hard to be a regular tipple.
