Writing retrospectively so I’m going off memory here. This wasn’t as impressive a wine as Guigal’s red CDR, but still a pleasant if slightly unbalanced white. At this price point, however, I’d take Yves Cuilleron’s IGP Rousanne from a little further north any day.

Great Entry Level GSM. Dark and shiny ruby color. Black fruit aromas with hints of some baking spices. Black cherry on the pallet with a hint of almonds. Full bodied but smoothly textured. Remarkably consistent from vintage to vintage. Beautiful elegance and finesse at this price point.

Nose: dark berries, caramel, sweet coffee, a little licorice. A little talcum. Promising! Some cherry and a spice I can’t quite identify … nutmeg?

Taste: silky, medium weight. Ripe raspberry, dark “brambly” fruit. Simple. 88-89.

EDIT: a lot more fruit came out on day 2. I do prefer it. I will try this again and decant it and see how that goes.
