Brune et Blonde de Guigal Côte-Rotie Syrah

Violets underbrush deep spiced plums, took a day for the fruit to reveal itself

Wow.

Fully mature and offers a great snapshot of aged N. Rhône syrah. Leather, muddled black fruit, mint, hung meat, espresso, wilted violet. Soft and supple.

Hit the spot with the Mexican braised short ribs and osso bucco!

Ruby. Closed at first but a vibrant nose came on. Smoke, plum, menthol, black fruit. In the mouth it's still chewy and shows it needs more age. Try again in 5+ years.

A nice Syrah, not complex or in any way to be confused with a La La, but rich and round and pleasant to drink

What a wine! Brunettes and blondes!

Medium bodied, classic cool climate/Rhone Syrah with still plenty of red and blue fruits, spices, used leather and game notes coming through with a very long finish. 13% ABV. Resolved tannins, velvety mouthfeel and alcohol and acidity in perfect harmony. Lovely bottle!!

Eh. This was totally fine, but was kinda flat and lacked expression. There was some signature Cote Rotie stuff there, but it seemed a little muted.

Drink up. It's ready, and will be good, but not great, hereafter. So meat smokey.
