Deep tawny color with a red, scarlet center. Opaque. Earthy nose with notes of red and black fruits, leather saddle, cuban cigar and some dry brush. Silky and smooth in the mouth. In a great spot.

Brooding, aromatic, and deep. Still quite bright and lively. Blackberry, pencil shavings, violet petals, black plum, dried fig, iodine, black pepper, leather, Kalamata olive, cassis, raspberry preserves, bittersweet dark chocolate, savory spice. Earthy black truffle notes open up with aeration. Ultra-fine cocoa powder tannins, mouthwatering saline acidity, and a super-slinky silk texture. Long, savory finish.

Dark purple tawny and opaque x2. Has an old world bouquet in the nose. Notes of black fruit, tobacco leaf, moist forest floor and leather saddle. Rich and luscious in the mouth. Tannins resolved, leaving a velvet fruit coating in the finish. Really good tonight.

Dark tawny, opaque all the way to the rim. Seductive fragrant nose. Notes of red fruit, blueberries, cedar and moist forest floor. Rich, velvet in the mouth. Long finish. There’s a nice sweetness matched against some big structure. Great wine.

Changing it up with some Napa Cab! 91 HM is totally in the zone with stunning depth of aromatics and pure velvet on the palate. There is an incredible balance of fruit and secondary character. Fantastic.

This hasn’t yet shed its trademark austerity even at 30 years. It was actually better day 2(!) This was built to last to put it mildly and has a gruff, craggy nobility befitting its mountainous origins. Dried black fruits (plums and currants), pepper, leather, graphite, violets, chocolate, cloves

Destroyed. Not corked, not maderized, not excess sulphur, not va, maybe excess brett? Not sure what happened here but this wine smelled like a bad mussel or oyster. Beyond awful, not sure what happened here but this is one of, if not, my favorite producers in napa. Very unexpected and disappointing.
