2001 vintage. Medium garnet - cloudy. Smells like old Barolo - sour cherry, forest floor and mushrooms. Medium minus body, very high acidity and medium concentration. Medium plus tannins - quite coarse. Very bitter / sour finish. Not much fruit left on mid-palate. Interesting, but seems on downhill slope. NB: an hour in the glass, the fruit has become confected and the medicinal notes to the fore. The body has become bigger and the wine generally has improved somewhat. There's quite a lot of liquorice and dark chocolate.
