Dark ruby in color with a wide dark brick rim.
Earthy nose of blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, earth, forest floor, green vegetables, graphite, spices, bitter herbs, river rocks and black pepper.
Medium bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, currants, oak, tobacco leaf, spices, graphite, bitter herbs, black tea, wet leaves, vinaigrette and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 7 year old Châteauneuf-du-Pape is drinking nicely now, even though this was not a good vintage, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Very earthy with some old closet notes 😁
Needs an hour to open up properly. Nice and enjoyable with nice balance.
Good by itself as a sipping wine by the porch and a good food wine too. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

This was really good. Drank with someone I haven't typically seen eye-to-eye with and had this feline in my face the whole time. I've been told taste can change with a situation and this tasted better as the night went on- success all around!

Deep garnet, sweet fruit, pretty integrated tannins but a little more bottle age will improve it. The finish goes on and on and on. Love it.

Embodies everything I love in S. Rhône wines. Deep, velvety, joyful, complex, immediate and captivating. Lovely in so many ways but the balance grabs my attention the most. Everything in its place.

2011 is very solar with intense notes of dried plum. But Janasse VV is IMO one of the best expression of the vintage with a controlled bouquet of aromatics.
