Wow! This is in such a sweet spot right now. So smooth with such a purity of fruit and richness. Harmony between tannins and acid. Still feels like a young wine but it's 11 years old! Big smiles all around the table right now. This is just phenomenal!

This wine is in such a beautiful place right now. Currant, cedar and a bit of mint on the nose - full bodied with abundant dark fruit flavors mix with a hint of chocolate and vanilla followed by a long finish - I absolutely cannot believe this is 10 years old. So, so, so good.

I happened upon this lovely gem on the shelf at Total Wine in Reno today. It is a spectacular wine in a perfect drinking window. It still has lots of black cherry and currant fruit, but is also showing lovely tertiary flavors and aromas of leather, pipe tobacco, dried flowers, potpourri, and earth. The texture is like pure silk in the mouth with beautiful supporting acidity. These Detert wines age beautifully!
