Sipping Fine Wine

A wine being hawked by a big box wine store. Not sure why “Reserve” is put on a $13 wine?? Aromas of berry and smoky spicy. Cherry and tart plum flavors with sharp pepper spice and herbal notes. Rugged tannins makes it difficult to enjoy. Needs a big food dish. Pass. Tasting Sample. Consistent notes from the ‘16 I tasted last year.

Dark ruby in color. Nose leaps at you with red fruit all of the way. Classic Argentine fruit-forward medium palate echoes the nose: dark red cherry, red currant, and the rare palatable raspberry lead with a wee bit of birchy vanilla oak way underneath. Subtle medium tannins and medium acidity solidify its place as a wine for food (frankly, I don’t know why anyone would want to sip Cab Sauv on its own by the glass… it’s never at its best there and nearly always cries out for food). Enjoy now with beef, lamb, mammalian game, or roasted root vegetables.

Tannins on the front but not too bad. Straw smell? Would drink again. Maybe with a lighter red meat dinner. This wine isn't crazy intense/heavy
