Quite savory and a tad bit stewed, with cigar box and leather notes as well as a kick of minty wood on the finish. Quite impactful on the palate, this is rich and weighty. Could have used more focus and flavor delineation, but this certainly has its appeal and I understand why one would rate it higher.

Medium ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of ripe black plum, juicy blackberry, black cherry, pomegranate, vanilla, cedar, toast, cinnamon, cloves, anise; dry, medium plus acid, high tannins, high alcohol, full body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; medium finish, wine has more structure than fruit on the palate

$19 Big nose. Notes of plum, black currant, cherry, faint baking spice, and blackberry on the nose. Full bodied. Dry. High acid, high tannins, medium alcohol. Chewy tannins. Notes of cherry, violet, and blackberry. I like this wine. It's dry and predictable. It feels simplistic. I decanted for an hour and it still felt closed. I'm a little worried that this year just didn't measure up to its domaine. A very quality Bordeaux but lacking the complexity that you hope to find from a Grand Cru of this region. This would make an excellent table wine with red meat, cured meat, tapas and a baguette.

Much better day 2. Red fruit, leather, fairly light bodied, dry and balanced but not too complex.

Mother’s Day treat with G after W&M graduation weekend. Dry with a long, curvy finish.
