Nice balance, spice and pepper, very much like Cos 03, good wine with bark and cedar overtones.

Drank the 96 at La Luna and forgot the bottle. Was refined and elegant (12.5%) but not overly complex. A classic, second tier Saint Julien.

Very good wine but, after having 10-12 Bordeaux from 2003 (none were first-growth level; most were just a step below in pedigree), they do lack a little something. The dark fruit fades mid palate.

Terrific. Barnyard, coffee, sweet roasted bell pepper, viscous, rich and voluptuous. Admirable length. A real treat.

Minimal fruit, but pleasantly resolved tannins. Smoky toasted wood and blackberries. Has another 3-5yrs of peak drinkability.

Quite amenable, considering the vintage.
