The cork had disintegrated, but we strained out a lovely bit of juice for our last dinner party at the Pasadena Marina penthouse.

£51 decent aged Pauillac just past its peak but drinking lovely 👍 If it was cheaper I'd rate higher 😎

🍷 Dark garnet ruby w/ brick edge

👃 Soggy leaves & soil jammed with flinty minerals, burnt smokey oak & musty mushroom cellar through desecrated b/currant compote w/ a puff of prune, farmyard, mocha leftover grounds & leather - fab 😍

👄 Med smooth velvety deep earthy mocha liquorice infused body of old blackcurrant & burnt cherry mash

🎯 Med+ earthy mocha liquorice dark faded fruit & prune

This has been in my cellar for a while. There's so much life left in this! I enjoyed it better than the 2000. Such an under rated estate.

This is the oldest bottle I have had the pleasure to enjoy so far. Its nearly 21 years come the fall; it's not what I expected, which would be a wine with cellar funk, and more brick red hues, followed by the the ever so slight slipping of youthful fruits in exchange for maturity in leather and earth. What I got, was a beautiful, still mature, yet young wine showing just slight wrinkles in its face in the form of faint color fade. The liquid itself was still gripping to its youth with firm tannin structures and bountiful fresh dark fruits, laced with some slowly emerging leather tobacco notes, earth and mineral, dried cherries, and a smooth delicious finish. This wine has easily 10-20 more years to go in the bottle, but it was an absolute treat to experience now, and it was a delightful surprise in the bottle.

Surprisingly alive for being of legal drinking age - bing cherry and lots of tertiary aromas. Sour cherry on the finish and a smoky like texture. Quite nice. Has another 3-5 until it starts to lose a step.

(15.5/20) Букет ароматов черники и ежевики с нотами кожи, мускатного ореха и кофе. Довольно высокая кислотность и интенсивные суховатые танины. Во вкусе много третички, в послевкусии провал.

1995. Impressive. Strong licorice notes. Decanting served it well.
