Totally unrecognizable as a Cru Beaujolais and more like a dry Santa Barbara shiraz. In God's name, what was the chateau thinking? As Beaujolais, bloody awful. As wine--any wine--an 8.0.

Mar 11th, 2019Dense dark purple with a bluish tint. Almost looks like a warm-climate syrah. Light granite on nose. Concentrated and dense dark plum fruit. Not much sweetness but some nice licorice and ripeness as it opened up after decanting for a bit. On dry side but not very tannic. Medium plus body. Noticeable alcohol. This is someone’s baby...just not mine. But still good.

Forward, licorice/fennel nose. Very intense, with low tannins and dry. Delicious and elegant.
