This was an exceptional Napa cabernet for 15 years old. In Magnum, decanted for 1 hour. Dark purple color, minimal sediment. Hints of bell pepper and spice on the nose. Dark fruit, black cherry, green bell pepper, black pepper and faint oak. This is in amazing shape for 15 years old, perfectly matured wine. It would probably be past it’s prime in 750ml but drinking like a rockstar from magnum.

I must say I was a little concerned when I first tasted this wine but after about an hour in the decanter and without food, it was soft, decent fruit richness but lacked power and complexity. However, with the ribeye, the flavors and complexity really shined. The fruits are ruby. Creamy blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, cherry cola, black plum, nutmeg, allspice, star anise, just hint of thyme & rosemary, mocha, caramel & vanilla barrel toast, long smooth finish that doesn't stop. Enjoy now and for another 5-8 years. Best apparently with a ribeye!

A fantastic Napa Cab with some age but is still very vibrant and fresh with depth and balance. No super-ripe fruit bomb. Balance of bright red cherry and blackberry with a hint of cedar and leather. Smooth, velvety tannins and fresh acidity. Enough vibrant red fruit that it gives the impression this was made a year or two ago rather than 11 years ago, but the time has had a nice impact on the balance and smoothness.

Black plum, chocolate, black cherry, spice, black currants and licorice notes rise from the glass and fan out across the palate. Great mid palate, this pushes strong to a long finish. Silky tannins, still youthful, ample acidity.

Breaking into our vertical of this great wine. Reviews say drink by 2013, but a few more years hasn't hurt this at all.

A beautiful wine for Christmas with a standing rib roast

A supple, graceful style that serves up a complex mix of cherry, currant, herb and plum-scented fruit, picking up a light toasty oak and mocha note midpalate and finishing with a long, lingering aftertaste and round tannins...was outstanding.
