Fun blind tasting of Napa Valley Cabernets, we decided to choose two from 2011 while my Dad selected two different vintages of Caymus Special Selection.

Deep ruby core with garnet edges. A touch stinky ok the nose straight from the bottle, light dark fruits, and sweet spices. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Dark palate with dark cocoa, dark fruits, plums, cassis, gunpowder and vanilla. Long finish. Drink till 2025. (92+)

Opened the same time as the 2002, this doesn't have the ever so slightest oxidation presenting. Tanins are stronger and the fruit is much more pronounced compared to the 2002. This one has droppings as well. Smoky and drinking very nicely. Wish I had some more.

We had the 2004 Vintage on 12/25/19. Merry Christmas! Just a fantastic wine. A lovely bouquet of dark fruit and anise. Blackberry, blueberry and kirsch on the palate. Smooth finish to this full bodied wine. Give me more.

Pure velvet. Has opened up with a smooth mid pallet flavor with red cherry and hints of a marvelous tannin. Time to drink. I can’t imagine getting any better. Outstanding 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Beautiful nose as secondary and tertiary notes are abound. Lacks a bit of luster on the palate.
