Mature. Transparent ruby with some amber on the rim. Not a power wine at all. Fairly tart. Fruit is muted. Decent floral aromatics. Some savory notes. You do get some grip from the tannins on the finish.

Bay and dusty library on the nose. Cherry flesh at the tip of the palate, followed by black currant skin. Tannins still present but nicely softened. Perhaps 2006 wasn't the greatest year, but in the absolute, this is lovely.

Hard 9er on this one. I would buy again. Brought this one on the road with us after visiting the winery.

A nice wine from a vintage with mixed reviews. In the hands of a good, classic, old-school maker, still a worthwhile wine to enjoy while you wait for greater vintages. Still quite tight after opening. Aerated the bottle and it began to show forth nice dark red fruits and oak on the nose. A little light bodied and still has high acid, but starting to mellow and air definitely improved it. Enjoyed with lamb loin chops, sautéed mushrooms and artichoke hearts.

Mix this with some truffles and it just explodes. After some air, this is wonderful, classic Barolo.
