Cantine San Silvestro
Patres Barolo Nebbiolo

I want to buy a case of this. A case!
Tobacco. Leather. Earthy. It helps that 06 was a good year for Barolo…. But this is $35CAD. Steal.
I think I’m going to pick up a few to age… could only imagine how good it will be in another 5 years or so.

This is becoming one of my go-to WTSO great value Barolo! Consistently good. Approachable on opening but singing day 2. Dark rose on the nose. Dark cherry, earth, mineral, and chewy tannins on the palate that linger. Performing well above its price point. Would pair well with a mushroom risotto or a hearty stew.

Oct 8th, 2023Very classic nose full of dried, dusty cherries, fresh and juicy, with an uplifting flowery note.
Medium bodied on the palate with a solid yet juicy tannic frame and good fruit & energetic acidity filing it nicely.
Not the most terroir driven or individualistic Barolo but in the spectacular vintage - a true & delicious classic!

Extra point for great value. Another winning 2016 Barolo. Fruit forward and spicy nose that continues on the palate with primarily cherry, strawberry, raspberry. Mid palate transitions to a touch of leather and mineral that grows with slowly building and lingering tannins at the end. It’s almost like experiencing two wines. Limited aeration needed.
