From just north of Naples, Piedirosso is the quintessential Neoploitan wine/grape. Ruby red in color, with a medium-light body that is a refreshing choice for a red wine in the warmer months of the year. It reminds of a Beaujolais Cru with more acidity and more tannin. 12% abv also keeps things fresh, crisp and even better with a chill. Make sure you open 1 hour+ if a younger vintage.
Piedirosso gets its name during maturation, the stem turns a red color which is similar to a pigeon’s leg.
