Benchmark Rioja at this price range. It's good, but nothing out of this world. Definitely carries the standard earthy notes and has a nice balance to it. If you like this, you'll love anything Rioja, pretty much.

Surprisingly very good!!! Smooth and well balanced. It has a bit of everything but none really stand out in particular. Price/quality is off the charts. This will be a regular for this occasions where you need a wine that will be agreeable to everybody.

Great Rioja and a top favorite of mine for the price. Notes of black cherry, tar and dark chocolate with a smooth velvet finish. Works great with hard goat cheeses and tapas. I haven't held it for longer than a month, not sure if it would benefit that much with age.

Decent for the price. Plenty of cherry, dark red fruit, some spice. Smooth tannins. Not much age showing.
