2013 is a tricky year for many European wines. The typically dusty dry Priorat doesn't seem to mind the extra rain. The 2005 vintage of Primitiu de Bellmunt is one of my favourite wine under $50. This 2013 vintage is almost as good as the 2005. Cooler growing season makes it less ripe and acidic as the previous years; it slightly reminds me of Rhône wine. Notes of mushrooms, wet rocks, tree bark, and plum. Very easy on the palate with well balanced tannins and acidity. Weirdly has hints of tropical fruits on the finish.
