A wine of exceptional beauty and concentration. 2004 Ayoub, from winemaker Mo Ayoub has aged well. Slightly brickish rim, notes of dusty raspberry, mushroom, forest branches. On the palate, it's silky and fully mature. Black cherries, black tea and sweet tobacco. Savoury, earthy and gorgeous!

Not showing as well on the third day as on the first: the nose heavy with Italian plums and wet, autumn leaves, sweet leather and fresh tobacco leaves. The initial taste is dense with wet, Jory soils, brandied cherries, and cremè de cassis, with Italian plums revisiting you on the mid-palate alongside basalt, ending with mesquite smoke, caraway seed, and barbecued meat. I should have reviewed it on the first - a much better showing then than now. On any case, shows that the 2004 vintage from Oregon is ready to drink.

Heavy on the nose with rosemary, cinnamon, and baked cherries, with muted notes of warm rubber, dried cedar, peppercorn, and garden flowers. Spritzy with candied strawberries and cinnamon, melting into bright red cherries and pomegranates, and finishing with heavy notes of sandalwood and black peppercorn. A beautiful body and entry, but perhaps a bit disjointed in its profile and unfortunately, past its prime. Drink now.
