This wine is a bit over rated, not as round or balanced as I would expect from Santa Lucia Highlands. Kind of bitter, I gave it several hours to open up and soften to no avail. Not fruit forward as I've found with other Pinot Noirs in this region.

There's a charred smokiness that unfortunately overwhelms the fruit. It blew off somewhat after several hours, but nothing replaced it and the fruit that remained lacked vibrancy. Rather dull and descript in ways that point to price rather than variety or place.

Although usually I prefer full bodied reds, I must say this one came as a nice surprise. Not much on the nose, but very pleasant on the palate. I find it very elegant, soft tannins, and with a 14.5 % vol it does carry a nice punch enough to drink with red meats. I definitely do recommend this wine if your into Pinot Noir

A tickle of sweet berry notes with an ounce of dry translate to a smile on the face of a young Asian lad.
