Yes, it’s THAT Champagne. No, I didn’t buy it, and neither did the friend who brought it over to share after being gifted it by a client. So, what does the Ace of Spades taste like? Decent non-vintage, moderately long triage champagne. But for $250-$300!?!?!? You’ve gotta be kidding me. This doesn’t hold a candle to Krug or Taittinger Comtes de Champagne or frankly even Bollinger Special Cuvée. So definitely don’t buy a bottle, especially not in a restaurant. Sorry-not-sorry, Jay-Z.

Really added a wow factor to the music focused dinner but what it had it visuality it lacked in quality. Not the level I would expect in a Champagne at this price. Drink for the experience at best.

I don't even drink the shit. I just pour it out over ice. And I'm not talking about frozen water.

This Champagne is made by Cattier in Chigny-les-Roses but the brand has been owned by Jay Z since November of 2014. The wine is composed of 40% Meunier, 40% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, but the Meunier dominates the aromatics. It is not our finest value for money.

First time trying. I was expecting flash and show, but I was surprisingly impressed. Elegant and focused with super fine bubbles

Would be a decent $50 bottle of Champagne, so I’m glad I didn’t pay for it. Obviously just a show piece — that is, a wine that’s bought for its price tag and labeling. But, is it worth $300? Not a chance.

Tasting notes: Crisp, tight, small bubbles; even flavor, consistent effervescence from the first glass to the last. Nondescript citrus flavor (lemon-kumquat) throughout. Easy-drinking and definitely quaffable; goes well with a charcuterie or cheese platter. A bubbly that that probably anyone would like, almost like Sprite.

On the eve of #ChampagneDay celebrations tomorrow (21st of October) it seems only right to share my tasting note for the bottle of Armand de Brignac Brut Gold aka 'Ace of Spades' Mr. Spittoon and I cracked before flying off to get married.

In the glass the colour nearly mirrors the eye catching bottle it's in - a brilliant gold with thousands of fast moving bubbles rising up from the bottom of the glass. When you stick your nose in the glass there's florals, citrus, brioche and whiffs of this beautiful elegant perfume. The palate is smooth with a punch of flavour in the finish. The finish is deliciously long. A wonderful champas however personally I would buy something else in this price bracket. Saying that I'd never turn down a glass or swig out of a bottle of Ace if offered!

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Post event photo dump to rate a few favorites.
This had the highest concentration of bubbles in any champagne that I have tried. New oak Chardonnay is added following second fermentation. Very interesting - good, but not worth the price IMO.
