Nose has white pepper over ripe black cherry, dried blackberry, pomegranate, over-ripe plum, warm blueberries and moist garden soil.
Palate has blackberry, black currant, tanned leather, cedar-blueberry jam, milk chocolate, granite gravel with mild tannins.
Decanted 2h.
Perfect pair to homemade burgers from a local farmer in Columbia Co. NY (Kinderhook Farm), cooked to a beautiful medium-rare served on toasted brioche burger rolls.

On the nose, plenty of ripe and wild blue and black berry fruit, but a huge dose of rich turned earth and stony mineral are center stage, with resiny herbs not far behind. Nice round acidity and subtle yet persistent tannins. Perfectly balanced, plenty there to think about but very drinkable none the less.

This is fantastic. A lovely combo of Tuscan earthiness & intensity with a brilliantly alive, bright side.

Dec 29th, 2017Dark chocolate raspberry and granite. Idk, not sure how this climbs the ladder to 9.2... I respect it and see how folks dig it but I'm not buying a case.
