Time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This week it's a great one from Alexander Valley.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Great fruity nose with blackberries, sweet cherries, figs, raisins, vanilla, smoke, cedar, licorice, cola, chocolates, mocha and black pepper.

Full bodied and bold with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked strawberries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, tobacco and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a wonderful cabernet from Sonoma County. Well-balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Still young, but already enjoyable even by itself.

Good right out of the bottle and needs an hour to open up properly and show some tannins.

A good wine to pair with BBQ steak. I really liked the nose here. Will be better in a year or two.

To the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were also added small amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Aged for 14 months in oak barrels.

14.2% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$20.

Too sweet and very strong grape flavor. May be great to dip a biscuit in.
