Alannera
Terre Siciliane Nero d'Avola
Sicily, ItalyIf you're looking for something that tastes like Nero d'Avola at this price in the US, let me know when you find it. If you want a surprisingly robust and tannic red, with a little spice and a little licorice in there, for less than $15, Ala Nera's a good bet.

I love the grape but this is not a shining example. Could it benefit from some time? Maybe. I have second bottle that I will decant to soften the harsh finish. Stay tuned. Noté Bene: what the hell, it's an $8 bottle
