17$ from a PA liquor store; last bottle on the shelf; wifey’s choice. A fascinating bottle.m, because the wine is made of Zwigelt, a predominantly Austrian grape, yet grown in the northeast of Italy. Nose: tight blueberries and raspberries, funk, and star anise+cloves; palate, super fruit forward in a great way, juicy, seductive with initially tight tannins; finish: long and dry and a bit medicinal. Starts out on the wrong foot. Barnyard and aggressive CO2, but within 20 minutes was singing. Cherries and subtle licorice. Almost a milk chocolate sweetness, but like when chocolate is almost fruity. But not at all bitter.
