This blend is fantastic. We also tried the straight Shiraz which was also really great but the added cab gives this the winning edge. β 2 years ago

Jammy AF; got cherry on the nose and an earthy smokiness. The more we drink it the more its like a tart berry pie. Easy drinking β 5 years ago

Iβm not across the different sub districts of the Barossa to be fully aware of the different micro climates but this Yalumba wine from the Northern Barossa was sufficiently different with aromas of liquorice blue fruits and tar. Spice black pepper and Soft tannins. Mouthfilling and delicious. β a year ago
For $8.99, I thought this a was interesting. Very dark fruit, plum, dark cherry. Then pencil shaving or cedar, a little tar.. medium body, some heat. Not great, but worth a try at that price. β 3 years ago
Sweet. Nice to drink with cheese β 4 years ago
A very dark rich crimson colour for 14 years. Notes of SO2 and asparagus which persisted over 3 hours after decanting but no effect on the palate. Medium bodied showing the cooler origins of the Eden Valley over the Barossa Valley floor. Coffee grounds, chocolate and savoury berry characters with M+ Intensity. This was a period where Yalumba was experimenting with single sites trying to show the different influences of different terroirs they had under their control. Burgundy like you might say. They didnβt persist with the idea and these bottlings but a useful exercise nevertheless. β 5 years ago

At the Annual Yalumba tasting at the Downs Club. A quick note - minty for a Shiraz Fairly Oaky with Oak Tannins showing through and Espresso on the nose. A good wine with great potential but for value I prefer the Paradox at about a third of the price. Have bought Octavius since inception when as Wine Committee Chairman the Downs Club hosted Yalumba CEO Robert Hill-Smith (still the boss) for the launch of the inaugural Octavius which strangely was a Cabernet to begin with (1987) and a Shiraz ever since. Still have my last 2002 in the cellar at home. β 5 years ago
