Dark crimson in colour. Very dark for a 14 year old wine. This is the last year this was released as a Shiraz/Cabernet. Now from 2014 released as a straight Cabernet Sauvignon. On nose and palate masses of raspberries. I would struggle to pick this if tasted blind. Certainly no detectable Cabernet for me. Would think some Grenache influence with those raspberries - but none. Very powerful with a long future. Very good based on their price which is the best in that price range so far — 8 years ago
Pretty good rioja. Paired perfectly with Mr Wynns chopped salad and the filet. — 9 years ago
Perfect cork, disintegrated but did its job. Superb example of age. — 10 years ago
See Dominus note - a taste off of the two 1997s both from magnum. It was remarkable how the taste profiles were so similar with the Dominus having a little more camphor. Both excellent wines and I gave it to the Dominus by a point. The table vote gave it to the Wynns John Riddoch. No detailed tasting notes. — 6 years ago
Bowen Home - full of berries, plums and vanilla as expected. Hint of spice makes it more special. — 7 years ago

No idea how this wines rating is this bad. In fairness it did take a while to hit its straps but after a decent amount of air showing some beautiful stalky tones with old oak, among blackcurrants and forest berries. The palate is reasonably giving, tannins are settled and a little bit of an acid drive to it. It's got a lengthy finish too. Can't complain — 10 years ago

Had friends over for lunch on Saturday and had a match off with this 1997 Dominus with a 1997 Wynns John Riddoch - both from magnum. This Dominus I first tried at TriBeCa Grill in New York about 8 years ago and it was a wow wine for me. In fact the best Cabernet I had ever had outside of Bordeaux. No detailed notes but this was more savoury and less fruit driven than I remember. The consensus around the table was in favour of the Riddoch with me as the sole vote for the Dominus. Fruited and elegant Shiraz, intense cassis with mulberries and a spicy peppery scent. Delicious Coonawarra shiraz! — 8 years ago
Semi syrupy like palate. Artificial lemon notes that remind me of scented pump water, an intense lime cordial, honeyed and candied orange aromas. Not quite super sweet but somewhere edging on the border — 10 years ago
Amazing Shiraz! — 10 years ago

Crimson with a Tawny rim showing its age. Mellow and resolved - round and soft at 17 years of age. Black Olive tapenade and chocolatey notes. Leading Australian Wine Scribe, James Halliday, describes Wynns Black Label Cabernet as “the most important Cabernet in Australia with a magnificent history “. The first vintage was 1954 and in a few months time when the 2018 is released it will be the 63rd. Amazing QPR - the current 2017 can be purchased for $31.90 AUD. The wine is matured in new (never more than 20%) and old French and American oak for between 12 and 18 months depending on vintage. — 6 years ago
