10th Anniversary IPA Re-release for the 20th Anniversary Encore Series, big big west coast hops, pine, citrus, peach, orange peel, sweet malt, 10% AVB, Triple IPA, not technically a style, especially back then, adds the new hops now common, Summit and chinook hops, Outstanding back then, and still very impressive, the closest beer to compare with this is Avery's Maharaja, which is still Outstanding as well β 9 years ago
This is in your face West Coast IPA, here on the west coast we honor and cherish this beers, these are the ones that started the DIPA beers, this brewery in fact was one of the first, West coast IPA's San Diego brewery, multiple locations, Associated with Port brewery and Lost Abbey, big hops, big malts, we still crave and need these beers, when everyone else is going to the tame and mellow DIPA's it is very good to see this brewery remaining true to what they do, Just Like Stone brewery, in cans, big plus, stays fresher longer, All IPA's and DIPA's should be in cans, Excellent DIPA, in the style, West Coast all the way, no mistake of that β 9 years ago

Stone IPA is a classic West Coast IPA from San Diego the Mecca of many great beers. This bold, hop forward IPA will never be mistaken for a more refined East Coaster. With its absolutely tantalizing hop bitterness, piney tones and vibrancy this is a big bold awesome IPA. If you like IPAs like I do add this to your list. Touring the many wonderful San Diego breweries is on my bucket list. @Bill Bender Bill this one is for you Cheers π» β 7 years ago
My first introduction to Santa Fe Brewing was a couple years ago on the West Bank (Harvey, not Hebron) by the best homebrewer I know. I had never experienced a Black IPA, and it was an eye-opener. Since that experience, Iβve come to understand that Santa Fe Brewing Co. is not only the first craft brewery in New Mexico, theyβre also the stateβs oldest brewery, and in fact, theyβre now even the largest brewer in state.
The 7K IPA started as a seasonal beer, but was recently added to Santa Feβs year-round repertoire, and deservedly so. The name references the elevation of Santa Fe (the city and the brewery). It is, indeed, an elevated, modern-styled, West Coast influenced, IPA. Enormously aromatic, with hoppy pine and citrus peel, followed by a juicy and tart white grapefruit. The mouthfeel is extraordinarily smooth, especially when you consider the abv is 7.0% β 7 years ago
Great bottle for the price. Discovered similar bubbles from same maker at Seaworthy in New Orleans by the glass. All the while eating east/west coast oysters. Purchased at Keif & co. β 8 years ago
5th Anniversary, re-release in a 4-pack box under $20!!! Had this back in the day, loved it then, still love it, this is close to original " Ruination" big piney hops, grapefruit, caramel malt, bitter as it was meant to be, a true west coast classic beer, Stone has come away from this style in the last few years, but it good to see them put this out, because as they say, most people think or say they had this beer, but really they did not, it was a very limited release, I do remember that, it was only available in very few states, and really only widely available in California β 9 years ago
Currants, dried strawberries, and dark cherries, with spice, oak, and I think even a little cocoa, maybe orange peel too. This is darker and deeper than a lot of west coast Pinots. The acidity is pretty strong and balanced the dark fruit well. Tannins are moderate to light. I had this with salmon, roasted potatoes, and cabbage cooked in duck fat. The salmon was farmed and a little too light for the wine, but cabbage in duck fat was a treat with this. β 7 years ago
I stunning IPA that is a little bit West Coast in style. Rich and great depth, floral and complex. If there were a negative it would get the tickets now heaviness than the ideal. But at 8% that's no surprise and probably down to my personal preference. β 7 years ago
West coat Pinot Noir for the win. Very nice and enjoyable β 7 years ago
Pretty good for a can of wine. I saw the ad at Whole Foods and thought I'd give it a try. Nice fruits rounds out with oak and a medium dry finish. This has been the best non bottle wine I've tried. I hope they start serving this on southwest or Hawaiian airlines. I might start drinking wine on my flights again. β 8 years ago
Think it's a new release, Incredible texture, teeth staining, inky purple, planted in 2000 on a west facing hill over the San Pablo Bay, Southern Petaluma Gap, constant afternoon wind. Intense, amazing structure, violets, raspberries, pepper, meat, funk. 50% WC, Viognier co-fermented, Feels like it's going to age for a long time, has everything, alcohol, acid and tannin, probably coming back to the next bottle in 2024. Ridiculous wine. β 9 years ago
