The Gattavecchi family has been making wine in Montepulciano since the1950s, with the purchase of the Poggio alla Sala estate. Ruby with aromas of red berry, herb and floral notes. On the palate tart cherry and raspberry with spice and earthy herb notes. Firm tannins on medium finish ending with some earthy oak. Good now and over next 1-2 years. — 5 years ago

I really enjoyed this. A little spicy, moderately rich, nice dark berries on the nose. Assisted by rainy, gray days. Would be nice with pasta, I bet. Or pizza. Mushroom pizza. Or maybe mushroom and sausage. And other assorted meats. Nice, classy label too, if you’re into that kind of thing.... — 5 years ago
