I can already tell that my palate is going to need a breather when I get back home: so many big boy reds 😅 Tonight’s pour is luscious and supple with velvety dark fruits, moistened tobacco, smoke, graphite, lavender, and eucalyptus. Looking forward to this opening up. Excellent craftsmanship right here. — 6 years ago
My first Pichon Baron. The cork was pristine. Dark ruby color. Bouquet of cassis and dark chocolate, full and beautifully balanced. Soft tannins and mild acidity. Full in the mouth, elegant and beautifully balanced. Long finish , of jammy cassis and cedar bark. Not powerful but long, velvety satisfying finish. The wine was at or near its peak. — 7 years ago
When you have to travel on a Sunday, and that Sunday happens to be Mother's Day, you're not exactly psyched. This little oasis in the Delta Sky Club afforded me the opportunity to smile. Not a bad pour, regardless of the price. Typical Lynch-Bages cigar tobacco and leather with some luscious and velvety black fruit. Finished a little flat, most likely due to being open for a while in the fancy automated pour gizmo. But still smiling! — 7 years ago
Another level... Still dense at the core, with steady, attractive bricking: Wonderfully dense nose of blackcurrents, pencil shavings, fine tanned leather, and a hint of woodland floor (fine moss, leaves, and fresh soil after an autumn shower). Velvety tannins and great acidity. Along with the '66 this is one of my all-time favourite Bordeaux vintages. Seems to be keeping up better than the '61s I've had over the last few years!
We drank half of it from the coravin before waxing the top in case the cork had lost too much elasticity to self-seal. I'll have the rest with my brother in a few weeks' time! — 8 years ago
A friend brought a 1991 Mag of Araujo Estate Eisele Vineyard, we believe the 1st. Vintage. When first opened it had a little funk. Decanted for 2-hrs. This wine was beautiful, it had no bricking, deep ruby color. The nose had cassis, leather, cedar, & a hint of red & black fruit. The mouth feel was decadent with velvety tannins. In the palate black currant, cedar, touch leather & earthiness. Very impressive & paired wonderful with a rid roast with trumpet mushrooms! Thanks Rick — 8 years ago
My first Sassicaia. A 1996. This helped me to understand perfection in a glass. I was humbled to experience the potential greatness of a super Tuscan. Velvety tannins with the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc dancing harmoniously together and yet revealing itself individually in layers. At Bohemian restaurant NYC. — 10 years ago
Really great cab. Smooth and velvety, rich — 5 years ago
Rich dark berries with velvety finish. Soft tannins. My favorite Pinot. — 6 years ago
15.2% alc.
Big, bold dark fruits, silky-soft tannins, velvety mouthfeel and a sweet lingering finish.
Descriptors that would have had me eagerly running towards a wine twenty years ago now makes me walk away.
Impressive for its sheer size but.... — 7 years ago
Smooth and definitely drinks like an expensive wine. Has a great nose and is velvety and complex. Goes well with rich italian food or on its own. Finishes crisp and very very dry. Love that. Could have been a 9.5 but due to $25 price it is a 9.00. — 8 years ago
Drank for Sean's birthday. Drinking very well. Beautiful, velvety tannins and acidity. Leather, earth, mushroom, red fruits. — 8 years ago
Velvety mouthfeel with medium tannins. Robust red and dried fruits, finish of vanilla and graphite. Quaffable af. Would pair with lamb, rabbit, pork, cheese, hummus. Versatile. Honestly not worth it's price point. An off vintage from a delicious vinyard. Would not be hard to find a bottle 1/5 of the price. — 9 years ago
A testament to a visionary winemaker surrounded by people who want to join him in living the dream. Leather and liquorice on the nose, blackberries in the mouth and a long, velvety vanilla finish. Merci, Jean-Michel Comme. — 10 years ago
2/20/19: velvety texture, lighter Bordeaux with brighter fruits, truffle nose. Good but liked 2005 better — 5 years ago
Crushed velvety leaves from alpine flowers. A wondrous bouquet of a nose, and floral in the right way, not your grandmothers bathroom kind of a way.
Seemed fitting to picture this with our urban garlic harvest. As garlic take such a long time to mature, then even after picked, must be stored properly, to get the fullness of flavor.
Sweet blackberry tar is what this well crafted wine shows up front, subtle mint, eucalyptus, river stone. A perfect tango of tannins and acids, complete with the heel in the air - or maybe that’s my heel, enjoying this wine completely.
Decanted for the usual 3-4 hours. — 6 years ago
A bottle that really resonates its name! This is a true friend! Ripe berries. Mocha. Cedar. Velvety tannins. Glad we were able to enjoy it with friends! — 6 years ago
100 Pt wine. Extremely smooth and well balanced right out of the bottle. Dark Chocolate covered black cherries on the nose adding black currant, cocoa with a silky smooth mouthfeel and a velvety Tannin finish. As it opens, the cherries and cocoa becomes sweeter, The best wine I have ever had. — 7 years ago
The color is amazing, subtle strawberries, velvety. — 7 years ago
Patrick and I both love this. Velvety on your tongue blackberry sweetness — 8 years ago
A superb Cabernet from the Napa Valley. Rich, elegant, with a warm woody nose and velvety roundness. Lots of fruit and vanilla. To be sipped with pause and circumspection. Had the 2009 vintage. — 8 years ago
Garnet with thin translucent rim. Light complex nose of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, marshmallow, vanilla, baking spice and oak. Light body of mild pomegranate and red berry cola bring clean acid to the palate with a baking spice, smoke, leather, and earth background. Small velvety tannins leads to a long, slightly dry finish of pepper and cocoa. Very good balance and good structure make this a bargain at $19.99 USD as a sipper or light dish partner. — 8 years ago
Dry, semi young tannins, not quite as smooth as an older vintage. But wonderful velvety texture. Our pick for Christmas wine — 10 years ago
Really great wine. Big hit at supper club. — 10 years ago
