Last night in MT at the lake. Gave this several hours of air. Nice dark tawny color. Vibrant in the glass. The nose is great right away and stayed on point through the evening. Notes of black cherries, warm raspberries, old cedar, some plums and a little leather saddle. Rich and silky in the mouth. Velvet glove. Long finish. Great wine. — 7 years ago
Slightly over extracted and deeply concentrated, not something I usually enjoy much, but this is different. Aroma of black and blue fruits, dark chocolate, espresso that carry through the palate. Big and powerful in a velvet glove - wait, MollyDooker does have a bottle called Velvet Glove! The 16.5% abv was not noticeable. Immensely enjoyable. — 7 years ago
Beautiful velvet Cabernet paired with our Pollo Marsala tonight.! Very well balanced red fruit and smoothly silky tannins. Love Stags Leap!!! — 8 years ago
Liquid velvet. Probably the most drinkable wine I have had in years. — 8 years ago
Sweet at first and then tart to finish. A very good contrast. Not too sweet and not too tart. My favorite wine so far. — 4 years ago
5/2/21 Tasting group. My 1st, group 1st. Black cherries, plum, anise. Velvet texture. Flavors follow aromas. Nice grip. — 5 years ago
I’m not sure if it’s the age, but the balance of this ‘83 is quite amazing. The fruit may be slight past it’s prime but it’s kind of like drinking velvet, if velvet was a liquid. There’s a tiny bite at the end that’s a bit surprising. — 7 years ago
Smooth... Buttery finish. Full bodied flavor, but not overwhelming — 7 years ago
Very smooth with lots of berry. Good table wine for dinner — 8 years ago
Mel Torme checked with Caymus before he put on his velvet outfits. — 8 years ago
Happy Father’s Day. Pop and pour Tig full of rustic elegance. Deep garnet color with notes of wet forest, tobacco, blackberry, plum, leather, and wet earth. Additional chocolate and oak notes on the pallet. Smooth as velvet, on the bolder side (definitely full bodied); dry with medium acidity, medium alcohol and smoothed out tannings. Cheers. — 5 years ago

Sweet, but not overly so. Very good dinner wine! — 7 years ago
Love ChP when it’s got some age on it. (1998) Totally different beast and this was spicy velvet. — 8 years ago

Changing it up with some Napa Cab! 91 HM is totally in the zone with stunning depth of aromatics and pure velvet on the palate. There is an incredible balance of fruit and secondary character. Fantastic. — 4 years ago
