Very Northern Rhone in style. Often read descriptions saying Bacon notes but rarely get it - definitely shows here along with some spice and pepper. 100% whole bunch wild yeast Fermentation. Medium intensity - savoury with soft black fruits. Does Steve Flamsteed ever make a bad wine - another great effort. Tasted again 172 weeks later on 18th February 2022 with similar notes and enjoyment. Tasted again 177 weeks later on 25th March 2022. Excellent Syrah in the northern Rhone style. Bacon and Charcuterie notes with spice and pepper. Cured meat - savoury and delicious. Won the Trevor Mast Trophy for best Shiraz at Royal Melbourne. Had another bottle 238 weeks later on 26th May 2023 with consistent notes. An absolutely brilliant Shiraz in the Northern Rhone style. Cured meats; savoury. I can see why it won best Shiraz at Royal Melbourne. — 7 years ago

One of my favorite Napa Cabs. So much flavor. So smooth. — 9 years ago
Nicholson Jones White Label Cabernet 2012 vintage is a wonderful full bodied wine. Smooth from the first sip with a strong fruit presence. Think Caymus 40th anniversary cabernet on steroids. This was a treasure from a young wine producer with a talent for making really good wines. A ten from start to finish. — 9 years ago

This reminds me of taking a picture that’s very special in the moment and later reviewing it to find that is just a touch out of focus… You still see everything but it’s just not as clear and sharp as you would like it. There were moments when this felt like a 90 point wine and then there were moments when it dipped Dash I think the winemaking is in a very good place, perhaps this is needed just a little more time on the vine or a little less intervention in the cellar. Was completely serviceable and yummy with house burgers, but just was a little disjointed to be in the elite level of mid-Atlantic PVs. Perhaps it just lacked that complex cities and voluptuousness that’s possible with this highly aromatic and texture of wine. I would like to taste their 15, which was a really good vintage in North Carolina. This particular offering spent 28 months in peril, which is a really long time to find itself - The terroir is promising :) — 7 years ago

Nose: mineral feeling, bit of petrol/tar, not too much fruit here, fresh feeling
Palate: super acidity here, rounded taste... stone fruit finish

Wonderful earthy perfume of red fruits, rose petals, mushroom, decayed plant matter, sous bois. Aromas that you go back to time and time again - intoxicating. Medium bodied palate with resolved Tannins, M minus acid and M plus length. Really should not have a Bass Phillip Premium under 10 years of age. 2009 was a good year for BP so Phillip Jones said at the time, but they would have had vintages since which equal or slightly better this. One of Australia’s best Pinot Noirs. — 6 years ago
