Amazingly, this treasure, my last bottle of the saturated purple '99 Ojai Syrah 'Thompson Vineyard', was much fresher and significantly fruitier than the previous bottle consumed about a year ago. This one I drank immediately after decanting (with copious sediment). Super dense aromatics and smoky flavors of dark fruit, damp earth, cracked pepper, leather and licorice abounded.
