2016 bright very well rounded with a really nice hint of Brett. — 7 years ago
Both balanced and complex. Beware teeth and tongue turned purple. But a delicious wine. — 8 years ago
Wonderful and big for 27 years. Kept opening and was so full and dark. Satin on the tongue. — 8 years ago
I have only the cat emoji with the hearts for eyes coating my tongue. My soul can relate to cherries, cola, roses, oak and those three hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil monkey emojis.

So delicate and expressive. Red cherry, Santa Rosa plum, red rose, cassis, stewed cranberry compote, strawberry with tobacco & lively minerality. Love. — 10 years ago
2014. Good color and body. Not usually a fan of Pinot Rose, but this is excellent. LaHaye. — 10 years ago
Needs to air after first opening bottle but then reveals plush dark fruits, nice body and acid, has Burgundian overtones to me but at same time taste like modern Sonoma Pinot. — 10 years ago
Super dark, fruity/berries, can stain tongue blue. — 12 years ago
A wonderful old and aged flavor. Smooth and low acidity. Medium life on the nose and tongue. — 12 years ago
Pale in color; slightly waxy, lime rind, white flower. Excellent vibrant acid balance with a layered texture and full body. A delicate almond note on long finish suggests drink up but this was in great shape overall. Dancer has a wonderful touch with CH.

Refreshing, light, slightly sweet smell. Pleasantly tingly on the tip of tongue, very complex, flavors spread out on tongue, floral and fruity. Medium ish tannins. Rounded, clean finish. So good! Had at Smith and wolleksny with samir — 8 years ago
This was ridiculously good. Had it with our Chinese New Year dinner of chicken, duck, seafood, etc and it went well with everything. Full bodied, well integrated, just really rich and wonderful. Might be the best NZ wine I've ever had. — 8 years ago
Each roll of the tongue uncovers a different layer. Smooth, complex, rich mouthfeel and body. — 9 years ago
Bright acidity. More raspberry than cherry on the nose. Tannins stick primarily to the tip of the tongue and dies quickly at the back. — 10 years ago
Its legs were long, its cheeks were red, my tongue was happy when I went to bed. — 10 years ago
Rudy red, strawberry smell and very tasty to the tongue. Silky smooth. Will be buying again. — 10 years ago
Snouts digging around the acorn trees. Prosciutto garlands lapping the tongue. Vanilla pipe smoke trailing the highways as we walk on through the valley at dusk. Lightning bugs and crickets cast an open sea under the full moon. — 11 years ago
Really nice Chardonnay! Fantastic complexity - great fruit, nice nose, excellent oak. Rich and buttery on the tongue but cool and citric too. Fabulous. — 12 years ago
Color of dark ruby. Nose is chocolate, plum, raisin, spicy alcohol, and tiny bit of medicinal note. Taste is sweet, with peppery abs spicy mouth feel, sweet raisins, milk chocolate, a bit zesty, and really mellow but enough density on the tongue. Aftertaste is some spicy note again but still very smooth. A bit too much bitter note in the after taste. — 7 years ago
Every now and then A wine that I love comes around with butter and spice and everything nice and this is it! Kathryn by Hall winery 2014 Napa Cab sauv. The bouquet is spicy and oaky! Lots of black licorice. The color of coarse is very dark. You can see the thickness before giving the legs a chance to run. The initial pallet is blackberry blueberry boysenberry deliciousness. The spice hits immediately on the tongue. Oak cigar and other earthtones bring up the rear. The finish leaves your mouth coated in butter As it slips down the throat. It is not overly dry at all. I don’t need water, I just need another sip. Pure perfection as far as my palate is concerned!!!!!! — 7 years ago
Warm, not spicy, full bodied. Very smooth and silky on the tongue. Flavor degrades rapidly within 24hrs, becomes acidic. Would definitely buy again. — 8 years ago
My nephew Jess says this about Caymus.... "Its like a 1,000 virgins licking my tongue"... 😊🍷 — 8 years ago
2013 Shafer one point five cabernet sauvignon from the Stags Leap district of coarse! Well, perfection dad and son! John and Doug, you guys have mastered it. The cork was in perfect condition. After a 45 min eternity of time for decanting, the color is as dark as the night sky on a stormy night in the hills of Tennessee. The legs are slow and thick. The bouquet is peppered cranberry juice with a twist of rip figs growing on the tree. The initial palate is reminiscent of buttered toast and blackberry jam. There is a hint of spice and black pepper. On the finish which is very long, I detect black coffee and dark chocolate - not the Dove version, but the bitter version. There is an fired oaky wood flavor with a blast of a maduro cigar! The finish is very dry and if I don't get a sip of water soon My tongue my shrivel up. But I need another sip first!
Fantastic wine!
Here is a toast to the Shafer family and to my wonderful and beautiful Dayanara on our new home!
Cheers!

I get green papaya or green pineapple on the nose. Lychee too. Dryer on the tongue than on the nose, I was surprised - pleasantly! Very easy to drink. I will buy this again. It'll stand alone or be good w/ food. Most white drinkers in a crowd would like this. — 10 years ago
Meaty, slight earth and caramel nose - some banana. Great fruit on the tongue, good amount of tannins. — 11 years ago
Very full body. Great taste very can drinker will love it. Flavor on front of moth and tip of tongue. Ready to drink — 12 years ago
Tree Kilpatrick
CA style nose. Very dry and shorter on the palate. Tannins and dry ing on the tongue. Cotton mouth. An Italian wine through and through. I do still like it though. — 7 years ago
