Founded 1972, Tom & Sally Jordan, from CO, went to CA’s wine country & produced inaugural vintage in 1976. A Fav of mine with a steak, and the ‘17 hits the mark! Blend of mostly Cab Sauv with Merlot, Petit Verdot & Malbec. Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruit, floral & spice. On the palate flavors of cherry, blackberry and fig with oak, sweet spice, leather & cacao notes. Rich tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit & oak. Very Nice! — 2 years ago
First merlot I've ever liked!!! Super light. Not too dry. Delicious! — 3 years ago
Fridays are for Franc! And I. LOVE. THIS. WINE. I could not believe the aromatics that exploded from the bottle when I pulled the cork. Seriously it was like there was a blueberry pie baking in the kitchen. Decanted for an hour or so. Deep magenta in the glass. Loads of Cherry and blueberry on the palate mingle with vanilla, chocolate, herbs, and earth - very rich, but so incredibly balanced at the same time. I’ve been a longtime fan of Detert wines and this very well may be my favorite vintage of their Franc to date. I’m just wowed. Can’t wait to revisit this again and see how it evolves. Really well done @Tom Garrett (as always). — 6 years ago
Barnyard funk nose. Dark cherry, vanilla, spice and minerals on the palate. Moderate tannins and acid in the finish. — 7 years ago
I kept wanting to sing "I dont pop molly I rock Tom Gore". Really interesting blend and enjoyed this, the tempranillo was noticeable and a welcome twist on the classic meritage. Needs a couple more years to meld, but I would buy this if I ever see it. — 7 years ago
From the Mornington Peninsula (although the fruit for this Pinot Noir came from the Yarra Valley ) - this is Tom Carson’s personal project when he’s not making wine for Yabby Lake - his main job. This had strawberry and other red fruits like cherry and a small whole bunch influence. Oak is dialled right back. A medium weight palate that is yet to show its full potential. First of 3 purchased and somewhat closed. Will leave having the 2nd for a couple of years. — 3 years ago

Another example of how great the wines being made by Dakota Shy are. Todd Newman and Tom Garrett have a knack for making great wines. This Cabernet, even very young, sends a message to every other iconic Napa cabernet they have something to contend with. Lots of black fruit and blue fruit on the nose with incredible flavors of blackberries, plums, and currants. I love this wine. — 7 years ago
1st 2017 juice for me, Tom is gifted, this wine is joyful, like Beaujolais nouveau for Australia. Not so much Poulsard like this year but absolutely lovely, light and pretty, of course nothing like your typical Barossa Shiraz, a good wine to blow your Aussie palate friend's minds with. — 7 years ago
More body than 2015 but still very pretty with more blue fruits, not overly complex, just fun easy going drinking. Give it a chill. 12% abv. — 8 years ago

Pepper and spice and all things nice as the saying goes as well as a violet note. Very youthful at 10 years of age. The following night a blackcurrant peppery note. Good persistence and length on the medium bodied palate. Tom Carson, the owner and winemaker of Serrat (a Catalonian word meaning close planting - in this case 8800 vines per hectare - one bottle of wine per vine). Tom is also the chief winemaker at Yabby Lake and an in demand Show Judge with a very good palate - Serrat is his private venture with French wife, Nadege. They also import a small excellent range of Burgundy. — a year ago
