Not even a fan of port, but this was elegant. — 8 years ago

Full bodied , great structure. Notes of Berries with some spice on the finish. — 10 years ago
Burnt brick red/brown on the eye. Medjool dates, dried cherries, cigar box, cedar on the nose. Palette sees more of that delicious cooked dates in butter, sweet caramelized vinegar, tart cherries, medium- acid, long, savory, buttery finish. Delightful port and love the age on this and also like that the alcohol is not overwhelming- it’s integrated into wine. Not dead yet and lots of vigor to be enjoyed! — 8 years ago
Fruity and maple syrup mixed together in an explosion of delight! Smooth and bold all at once, rich and powerful. — 10 years ago
Another great wine from the Douro region of Portugal — 11 years ago
Deserves the number 1 rating! So glad I have a few more of these! — 11 years ago
Fruits from the highest part of the Douro, an elegant wine - this sub region is the hottest, driest and stretches to the Spanish border, it produces some of the finest wines from the region — 11 years ago
A delicious example of LBV Port - it has all the classic vintage port attributes - plummy licorice aromas and flavors, balanced seemed and acidity, chewy texture -- all this is in the LBV except with a little less intensity. I like the Dow style - it's less sweet than Grahams and a bit more herbal in character. This is a beautiful wine for the price — 8 years ago
Was lucky to still find this value from an amazing vintage in the Douro. It really benefited from being open for a few hours.
The wine is perfectly balanced bringing rich dark fruit flavors, mineral notes and just the right amount of oak. — 8 years ago
Mouthfull of tasty blackberries and currants with soft tannins and low acidity that go down easy. Vinho Saborosa! (Tasty Wine in Portuguese). www.hitimewine.net — 9 years ago
Youthful, with power and concentration in the nose and palate. A very traditional styled Meao showing the typical style of this wine. The nose shows a mix of red and blue berry fruits, subtle spices, and barely a trace of oak. These wines are always masterfully aged in oak to impart just the right amount of oxygen and wood character. The palate is well balanced, youthful and medium+ in intensity and a fresh, persistent finish. This is just as good or better, depending on your tastes of course, of the recent string of many excellent Meao and reminded me of the 2009.
Tasted at Quinta do Vale Meao 10/16/2015, tasted at opening and 1.5 hours later. #meao #dourovalley — 10 years ago
I can't think of a better way to end a nice night than with this port. Sweet and dark notes, a lovely, rich taste and a beautiful dark cherry and oak finish. Great complexity. Enjoy with good music and great company. — 11 years ago

The smell is not that enticing, like cheap store brand soy sauce that has been sitting in a dank basement. Thankfully the taste is better, if not all that complex. Fresh with ripe red berries, a hint of grape skin, and cocoa powder. Would be great with a slice of chocolate cake. — 7 years ago
