the #vino is an unusual #chardonnay from #japan in northern #nagano near the #ski resort of #nozawa onsen. why unusual? well, it has a fairly neutral nose, with just a whisper of green apple & a splash of salty sea spray. On the palate, that saline character is omnipresent & combines with the bright #acidity to create a very pleasing textural experience. At just 12% abv & only ¥1550/bt, it's a totally "gulpable" bit of salubrious #booze both for head & wallet. — 11 years ago
South of Rome inland on a clay vulcanic soil
250 m on sea level
Cincinnato is establishing itself as a marvellous reality in the area
They have a beatifull resort as well
Wine is 100% Greco grape that doesn't touch any oak, no malo, but spends 3 months on the lees.
It becomes quite fleshy.
It has a peculiar scent of delicate red berries decorated by some pear and a distinctive smokiness.
This wine definitely has personality
I would match with mushrooms, white meat and cheeses.

Very nice! Dark n dirty. By that I mean delicious. About to hammer time some pizza so looking forward to pairing that with this. If nothing else, I'm eating pizza and drinking wine, right? — 11 years ago

I have always appreciated the style of Olivier Leflaive. As well, Chassagne-Montrachet as a whole. Always, brings me back to our lunch on the patio of Hotel Montrachet during our first trip to Burgundy and our next trip having lunch at the property with Olivier.
The 22 is drinking nicely…a bit more refined than my first bottle. Some waxiness and nice viscosity. Bright lemon w/ a note of sour, green apple-the first bite with skin, pineapple, white stone fruits, kiwi, tropical melons, notes of honey, good presence of saline, sea fossils, vanillin & caramel hues, a bit of dry herbs, dry volcanic minerals, wet river stone, fruit blossoms, yellow lilies and jasmine, spring rainfall acidy with a rich, elegant, well balanced finish that longs sets on just a touch of white spice w/ gentle heat.
