Syrah blend from South Africa's Swartland.
A wine for the Chateauneuf-du-Pape or Syrah fan who has everying. Go on. Give 'em this Syrah, Cinsault, and Tinta Barocca blend South Africa's Swartland region.
Sequillo is a Latin word meaning "an arid dry place of great purity." That pretty much sums up what's going on here. Syrah, Cinsault and Tinta Barocca grown in granite, gravel, slate and clay. Winemaker Eben Sadie makes sure you get all of it. The pulvarized minerals, smashed blue and purple flowers, forgotten spices burned deep in your memory. All with a streak of acidity cutting through a clear South African night sky like a rogue satelite. The wine is all muscle but doesent collapse under its own weight. Not top heavy. Perfectly balanced. It's the best wine from South Africa I've ever stuck my nose into.
I found it for $20/bottle. Could easily sell for $50. You can drink it now, you can lay it down, do whatever. Just cook up a big protein and do not miss this. — 8 years ago

Tasted next to the 2014 Voetpad from Eben Sadie this 2015 Hoe Steen from David&Nadia also performs well but has less complexity. More straightforward - good minerality, great Chenin. — 6 years ago

This zin is so different from the other offerings. Mountain fruit, cab like it it's complexity and density.

Dusi 2016 was great, all the components were there.
Sadie upton 2016 had some tightness and even cinnamon. The 2015 was a big red fruited wine with tannin and acidity. Big mid palate.
The whitney tennessee was tad more elegant and less zin jam. Dogtown 15 was the jammiest of the wines I had today. Still good but more in your face. Rinaldi was rustic and solid. 2015 old vines is the value of the day. Tasting very nice right now, maybe the best of them all with it's viscosity and sweet fruit. — 6 years ago
