The Regions

Langlois-Château

Saumur Cabernet Franc 2013

Wow! Cherries and raspberries with an intense floral bouquet, pencil shavings and slight touch of cinnamon on the nose. Sour cherry on the palate, soft tannins yet an elegant and silky texture. For $18(CAD) a steal of a deal. Wines like this are the reason Loire is one of my favourite regions. — 10 years ago

This was a totally unexpected surprise. A gift from family. Totally delicious. I am continually amazed at Zin grapes from high end regions. Note... These winemakers believe in their Zins! — 10 years ago

Adega Regional de Colares

Arenæ Colares Malvasia 2005

This is consistently just an enigma of a wine reminiscent of different regions across the globe. It's a shame that it is an endangered species. Enjoy! — 10 years ago

Estate Vineyards American Red Blend

A seriously fun wine or fun serious wine? 4 great winemakers 4 great regions 4 grapes.
I have tasted this on all levels of wine drinkers and EVERYONE has loved it.
More than just a field blend. This has thought and purpose going on behind it.
Quality > price > great deal.
I rarely buy wine but will definitely be getting some of this. I was going to say for the cellar but this isn't a cellaring wine not for more than a year or three.

Mission La Caminade

Cahors Malbec-Merlot 2011

Drinking better the second day. This has a dusty nose of iron dry earth- the iron giving a slight metallic nose. I also get smoke, dark berries and leather that lays over some herbal notes. This is what I live in a wine and Cahors is one of my favorite regions. — 11 years ago

Anas-Cëtta Langhe Bianco Nascetta di Novello 2013

now this is different in a very good way like cross polinating varietals and regions with seafood boudin and buttermilk bacon dressed salad — 10 years ago

Les Saumades Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2012

I really enjoyed this wine. The earthy notes with rounded soft fruit, was fun. It's been a while having a Châteauuef Du Pape- one of the great wine regions. — 10 years ago

Les Montots Mercurey Pinot Noir 2011

9.1

One of my personal favorite #Burgundy regions, Mercurey. Aubert & Pamela de Villaine's 2011 'Les Montots'--this dusty, truffled, earthy genius was really so pretty. Needs a wee bit of time to open up, but the cheery lil cherry bits sure were tasty! #ShadowsintheVineyard tasting. #certifiablydelish — 10 years ago

La Fiorita

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2006

Italy’s hard. There are too damn many esoteric grapes and regions to sort out, and often sold at a premium. But for big, intense and fruit-forward wines, Brunello di Montalcino is worth the extra cash on a special ocassion. Montalcino is a hilltop village in Tuscany, Brunello is the local nickname for sangiovese grapes grown there. Rich, dark, supple fruit that’s well balanced with dusty cedar, pencil shavings and sweet spice. In a word, luscious. #laterwine — 10 years ago

Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2012

Central Otago is supposed to be of the great pinot regions of the world. Lovely, "punchy and fresh". Bright acidity, characteristic of New Zealand — 11 years ago

Les Copains D'Abord Anjou Grolleau 2012

Very interesting! Like and Pinot like. Very fruity and Beaujolais like with a slight popcorn finish. Very obscure grape from one of my favorite regions. Nice pickup. I'll have to get more and implement this to the summer rotation for a light red option for warm weather. — 12 years ago

Terroir al Límit

Torroja Vi de Vila Priorat Garnatxa Negra Carignan 2011

Priorat!! One of my favorite regions for sure. This one is delightfully pleasant. Cinnamon and floral notes on the nose. Cherries, strawberries, and even some unexpected blueberries on the palate. Since this bottle isn't oaked to high hell, there's a fresh and rustic taste here. There's somewhat of a sharp edge that I'm really digging too. While just a little baby, this is made for drinking now. — 10 years ago

Cru Bourgeois Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

What is it about these French reds? You can pick them out from a global mix: clear and a little dry. I'm sure if I knew the regions better, I could match them - they each seem to have a signature. — 10 years ago

Adega Regional de Colares

Arenæ Colares Ramisco 2005

This is a dynamo of a wine that transports you across multiple regions. Is this a Burgundy, a Bordeaux or is it Italian from the Piedmont region? Its uniqueness is unmatched and yet it is from one of he most endangered wine regions in the world. Let's save this classic? — 11 years ago

Quinta do Passadouro

Passa Vinho Tinto 2011

Really nice representation of the value and quality of Portugal's Douro blends. Soft with being cloying and a good balance of acidity and deeper fruit like blackberry make it a good pairing with steak and hearty soup. The more Douro I drink the more my bucket list trip to Spain will include a side trip to Portugal's wine regions. — 11 years ago
