Full body with a lovely taste of berries! Good wine to cuddle up with a book or movie, and great to share with a friend. It’s a good “vibing” wine. — 4 months ago

Awesome - made by Prisoner guy. At cork and cracker. — 6 years ago
Silky tannins and a great mouthfeel with a good hit of astringency that doesn’t overwhelm. Delicious notes of black cherry and lightly fresh pepper on the palette. Smells of fresh ripe red and black fruit — 4 months ago
Really original wine, reminds me of the first time I tasted The Prisoner years and years ago, the original Zinfandel version that is. This is a Petit Syrah, Merlot, Cab blend with concentrated flavors and deep complexity… Need time to open and achieve balance. Cheers. — 5 months ago
Smooth and big California-style Chardonnay. Oaky and buttery but refined, with baked apple, all spice and almond. 14.5% abv. Low acidity and long finish. Great winter white. — 6 months ago
2016 is 83% Zin & 17% Petite Sirah. More Zin than 2015. Again, if you miss the old Prisoner this is the wine for you. — 4 years ago
It is close to the Prisoner but not 100%
Slightly less spicy but a very smooth and clean finish. — 5 years ago
This is Dave Phinney’s first Zinfandel-based wine since the noncompete associated with his sale of the Prisoner expired; hence the name. Popped and poured. Bold red and dark fruits with a significant amount of anise and black pepper. Medium tannins and a decent amount of acid to give the large amount of fruit some lift. A touch hot...the alcohol showing more as time went on. A fun wine to try and better than I expected but I can already feel palate fatigue setting in. Thanks Neal! — 6 years ago
Dark purple with color to the rim. Big nose of plum and elderberry compote in an oak bowl. Echoed on the full-bodied palate supported by juicy medium acidity and non-threatening medium minus tannins. Surprisingly smooth despite the 15.2% alcohol. Probably the best thing Prisoner Wine Company makes. A burly California style Merlot with enough finesse for fine meals but still sippable (over time… again 15.2% 😏) enough for casual wine and cheese evenings. Drink now through 2028, but don't expect much development. — 4 months ago
