This is the "Originals" Syrah on crack. More concentration, more of everything. I love this wine. It's probably slightly unbalanced, but I didn't care. It's exciting, energetic, has an obvious nod to Cote Rotie, but has it's own identity. — 9 years ago

Still seems pretty fresh, with dark fruit and some licorice. Held up well over several nights. As much as I enjoy the direction of the “new” Pax wines, it is always fun to go back and sample the originals - particularly when they hold up this well. — 7 years ago

Definitely on the road to fully oxidized, but alive enough to still be a very enjoyable bottle to drink. Soft almost pillowy texture with lemon and caramel. Smell was a dead ringer for grandmas house and Werther's Originals. — 9 years ago

Chateau Maugey - Le Jean Marc - 2004 Accorded myself a souvenir #winelover a treat, I remember it amazing wine for about 10euros a the time, I still have a few bottles of several vintages - near Libourne it was this "stubborn" and self educated winemaker, Jean Marc Maugey, a golden fingers #winemaker, running a small family estate with nature rules, he crafts wines like the Old and Legendaries #Bordeaux wines in the 19th and 20th century - Noble, originals, authentic and of character - focusing on Merlot and Malbec with small yields !
