Last of the two blind Zinfandel blends paired with our turkey burgers and black bean veggie burgers. Deep and dark mix of garnet and ruby red. Mute nose with notes of gunpowder, brambles, and a bit savory. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Dark and rich on the palate with lots of pepper. Some dark berries, graphite and purple floral notes. Long finish. Drink till 2020.
This is the inaugural vintage of this Heritage wine bottling from the Nervo Ranch in Alexander Valley with some vines being planted as far back as 1896. The 2013 Bedrock Wine Co. Nervo Ranch Heritage Wine is made up of an insane amount of varietals, twelve in total. Consisting of Zinfandel, Pinot St. George, Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet, Grand Noir, Grenache, Carignane, Trousseau Noir, Cardinal, Burger, Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Solid wine with some good layers. — 8 years ago
Opaque slightly cloudy violet color with expansive floral, mixed black fruit, olives, and bacon fat aromas. On the palate it's medium/full bodied, with a harmonious structure, supple texture, sweet dusty tannins and abundant blackberry, plum, black raspberry, cacao, and subtle spice flavors and an appealing kiss of minerality. Long finish. 14% alcohol — 9 years ago
Dark ruby color with brambly mixed black and red fruit and spice aromas. On the palate it's medium-bodied, and focused with creme de mure, black and red currant, black cherry, and spice with a very appealing minerality. Long finish. A field blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouchet, Grand Noir, Teroldego, Syrah, Black Muscat and Golden Chasselas. From 4.5 acres of wizened, stumplike, dry-farmed, head-trained red vines, which, planted in 1910, produce only half a ton per acre. — 9 years ago
Full bodied, black fruit and dried herbs silky smooth tannins — 9 years ago

Herbaceous, toasty, black fruits, blueberry, vanilla oakiness. Well balanced, love this wine — 10 years ago
Super hops meets super stout. Very hoppy, chocolate, and hints of coffee. — 10 years ago
This is built for aging with excellent color, primary red fruits, earthy-woodsy aromas with mouth filling texture. On 2nd day, opened up with black raspberry fragrance while continuing to exhibit freshness and length. — 10 years ago
Give this wine 2 hours in the decanter, really softens up. Gravel, dust, blackberries, tobacco, cured black olives. I would lay down for 5 or more years. — 11 years ago
Red fruit on the nose. Black cherry, raspberry on the palate. Opened 12 hours ago. Balanced, but still very young. Give it more time in the cellar. — 12 years ago
When Clos du Bois was founded in 1974, Sonoma County was better known for its prunes, walnuts and dairy farms than for its wine grapes. Dark ruby with aromas of black fruit with spicy herb notes. On the palate black cherry and blackberry flavors with toasty oak, cacao and some sweet spice. This full body wine had soft tannins and finished with earthy toasty oak. Good value! — 8 years ago
A hint of band aid/trainers tape on the nose. Flavors are very nice. Black pepper and curry powder. Strong stuff. — 9 years ago
This is one of the better cab francs I've had (though I need to try Detert on @Carl Fischer's recommendation). La Jota is becoming a favorite of mine...shouldn't be surprised as I'm a die-hard Howell Mountain fan. No traces of green pepper at all with this...got a nose of very slight toasted oak and blackberries. Long legs and a gorgeous purple ring/black core. Plum and cinnamon on the tongue. I'll take some more please. 👌 — 9 years ago
Old school California Cab. Dark black fruit and herbal notes of eucalyptus and cedar. Balanced alcohol and body. Nice fruit but not over-ripe. Tannins dry the palate on the medium plus finish. Let this breath for 2 hours or age until 2020x — 9 years ago
Best black lager I've ever had, consistent for years. — 10 years ago
This may be one of the best examples of Cali Syrah I've had in quite some times. Floral, meaty, with delicious black olives — 11 years ago
Thick, dark yet super easy to drink. Reminds me of Dixie Brewing's Blackened Voodoo. $4 / 89pts — 12 years ago
Affordable and tasty. Cherry, plum, and spice (black pepper). Smooth with soft tannins. Nice earthiness. — 8 years ago
Delicate nose with a medium bodied and crisp and clean finish. — 8 years ago
This Friday my Cabernet fix is from Washington State.
Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Nice nose of blueberries, plums, cherries, vanilla, cedar, cloves, chocolates, light green bitter vegetables, earth, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Medium to full bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet plums, green pepper, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, oak and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins and black pepper.
This is a nice and pleasant Cabernet Sauvignon from Columbia Valley. A bit unbalanced now, but very enjoyable by itself or with food. A good sipping wine too. Resembles a good quality
California Cabernet.
Drinking nicely now and will be better in a year or two.
14.5% alcohol by volume. — 9 years ago
Inky as a frightened cuttlefish, intense black fruit without being voluptuous about it. — 9 years ago
Drinks like a younger version, which means this can age for a lot longer.
On the nose, bell pepper, red fruit, black fruit (both still very ripe), tobacco leaf, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, vanilla.
The palate is more of the nose plus finely integrated tannins that leave a smooth finish.
I am biased towards Freemark Abbey. I do not care. Full monty. — 9 years ago
Dark near-black purple that clings to the glass. Blackberry, black blueberry, caramel on the nose and full palate. Medium acidity. Medium tannins (appropriate for its age). Lengthy dark finish. Fine New World representation of the variety. — 10 years ago
Fantastic summer BBQ or steak wine. Very dark ruby red with a nose that is a mix of freaks black and red berries...blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, a hint of forest floor, cloves, and leather. Loads of fruit but not cooked or jammy. Similar profile on the palate with medium tannins and plenty of acid to keep what might otherwise be a heavy wine very fresh. — 11 years ago
Rediscovered in the pantry.... Left behind by my father, who always enjoys a good bourbon. — 11 years ago
Both juicy and zesty. Nice acidity to balance the red and black fruit. Super value for $22, and great w/BBQ chicken. — 12 years ago

Bright high toned red fruit, black pepper skirts around edges of petrichor and a fleshy greenness that’s very understated. — 7 years ago
