Lots of texture and red fruit. — 11 years ago
In a bit of a reductive stage, but beautiful texture. I had a schistgasm. — 12 years ago
Oh heck. I wish I had more. I don't know Aussie wine but don't think that would make a big diff in how to interpret this oner. It is an individual and a nice one at that.
It is smooth and merlot Berry then POW there are your Gewurtztraminer spices and whoa. Despite my hatred of the color of yellow I can dig it. Yowza. — 10 years ago
Drinking the 1991 in 2016 after over 2 hours of decanting. Wonderful light sherry type nose with a hint of pepper and quite brick red colour around the edges. Such a soft texture on the tongue though still a little astringency on the finish. Very good. — 10 years ago

It's Bordeaux O'Clock. 81 Palmer oppulent, refined texture, fresh, layered & yummy! A bit of extra Pre-Parker finesse perhaps? #FilthyOldVino — 11 years ago
Decanted ~3 hours. All about elegance and subtlety. Subdued aromatics. Lemon, melon, jasmine, candied ginger, some background toasty/sweet hazelnut but not overtly oaky. Waxy texture but not heavy. — 10 years ago
1988 vintage. Note from Gerard: Deep orangy brown.
Exotic fruit such as mango and lychee, bitter almond. Pineapple and tangerine
Superb texture and vibrant fruit.
Never ending finish.

Bright red cherry, dried meat, olives, white pepper, black pepper, white flowers. Soft silky texture with balanced acidity to smooth tannin feel. Long finish, slightly bitter kick towards the end. Awesome! — 11 years ago
Notes d'amande, de pâtisserie- vanille, pain grillé. En bouche notes iodé, fruits à chaire blanches - 2003
Le 1998 développe des notes de noix mélangés, minéral, encore du fruit. Texture enveloppante et longueur — 12 years ago

Second Matthiasson wine that I've tried and it definitely does not disappoint. Low alcohol, elegant smooth mouthfeel and not over-the-top with the cream which is a breath of fresh air for a Californian Chardonnay. Pineapple, guava, and a hint of banana on the nose, Meyer lemon and a distinct minerality on the palate with just a dollop of creamy texture. A lovely wine. Bravo. — 9 years ago
